Fragmented
I don’t remember a lot from my childhood. What I do remember is broken bits and pieces without any sort of chronological order in my head. It’s all mixed up and I don’t remember how old I was for a lot of the memories I still have. I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA but my family also spent a good chunk of my childhood up in Lake Arrowhead.
I took photos in my hometown and up in the mountain, cut them up, and pieced the different parts together to display a representation of how the memories of the places from my childhood feel in my mind.
I use this project as a way to tap into a better part of the jumbled memories I still have. It’s hard, though. I find myself asking family members and friends when things happened as I’m trying to organize the things in my head.
Fragmented is my attempt at piecing together my life so that myself in the future has a better clue than myself now.
